Armenian Gata Puff Pastry Recipe


Ingredients :

1 pack (10 pieces) pre cut puff pastry dough (5”x5”) thawed

¾ cup white granulated sugar

¾ cup all purpose flour

2 tbs clarified butter at room temperature , do not melt or heat ,it needs to be thick and creamy

½ tsp vanilla extract

1 egg for egg wash

Directions:

Pre heat the oven to 375 degree F/ 180 C

In a bowl combine and mix together :flour,sugar,vanilla and butter

Spoon the mixture onto the pastry about 1 ½ tbs and spread evenly

Tap with palm to stick it together

Fold it twice and cut into four slices

Place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper

Dot folded ,sliced dough with a fork just to give it a nice design

Beat an egg and brush the tops

Bake 25-30 minutes,or until they turn golden color

Enjoy!

Tip: Gata freezes very well for weeks, just make sure to do that the same day,ziplock bags can be used for that purpose
