Fig Tart Recipe

Came up with an easy fig tart recipe and decided to share. This year, I had spent quite a time on prepping fig jams and preserves, as I’m planning on selling some of my homemade sweets on my etsy shop. I like be experimenting on tarts, and I do have a few great recipes on my blog. This one came out really tasty, would love to hear your opinion after you try it. I have already posted a recipe, tutorial for the crust and jam, so the only new recipe is the simplest cream cheese frosting, that takes only a few minutes to make.

Ingredients

For the tart crust 

150 grams unsalted butter, at room temperature

½ cup confectioners sugar

1 ½ cups all purpose flour

Pinch of salt

You will also need a 10″ tart pan and pie weights, I use regular dry beans about 300 grams or more

For the creamcheese frosting 

One 8 oz full fat cream cheese, at room temperature

3 tbs confectioners sugar

⅓ cup heavy whipping cream, I used full fat

½ tsp vanilla extract

You will also need a cup or a bit more fig jam, I have a tutorial on my YouTube channel, on how to make it




Optionally you can use fresh figs and berries to decorate the tart, refer to YouTube tutorial for more details

Directions

To make the tart crust 

Beat the butter and sugar until light and fluffy

Add the salt and flour, lightly mix on low speed

Press the tart dough evenly and firmly to the pan

Let it sit in the fridge 25-30 minute to harden, do not place it in freezer, it may crack as it bakes

Preheat the oven to 350°F/ 180° C degrees

Line the tart shell with parchment paper and place the pie weights (or beans) on top

Bake 30 minutes, then carefully remove the paper with the weights and bake another 15 minutes

Let the tart shell cool down, then place it on top of a cup or jar to remove it from tart tin

To make the cream chesse frosting 

With an electric mixer, beat the creamcheese and confectioners sugar until fluffy

Slowly beat in the heavy whipping cream and vanilla extract, mix 1-2 minutes

Assembling the fig tart 

Place the tart crust on a serving plate

Spread the fig jam on the crust

Then spread the creamcheese over the jam

Place it in the fridge to set at least for 1-2 hours

Decorate with fresh figs and berries, ready to serve
