Homemade Dinner Rolls Recipe
My recent, quick recipe for homemade dinner rolls, soft, fluffy and so tasty. One thing I may never get tired of, is developing new bread recipes. I can live off fresh bread, fruits and veggies, and be happy.
Fall season always brings me so much inspiration for comfort cooking. And for me the most comforting food happens to be homemade bread. Just the aroma of freshly baked goodness, is enough to create the coziness and warmth in my home.
This homemade dinner rolls recipe will be the first bread recipe for the Fall season, first not last. I have more bread recipes coming.
1 ⅓ cups water, lukewarm
⅓ cup milk, I used 2% milk
2 tbs melted butter
1 ½ tsp instant yeast, if using active dry yeast, be sure to activate in warm water before adding
1 ½ tsp salt, I use kosher
2 tsp sugar
3 cups flour, may need more for dusting, kneading
Optionally you may need 1 beaten egg and sesame seeds, refer to YouTube tutorial for more details
In a large bowl combine all your ingredients (except the egg and sesame seeds)
Mix and knead to a non sticky, soft dough
Place the dough into lightly greased bowl, cover with plastic or a damp towel
Place in a warm place and let it proof, double in size
Put the dough onto a lightly floured work surface, punch out the air and divide your dough into 15 equal portions or as many as you like
It’s a good idea to use a kitchen scale for even buns
Form small balls and place on your baking pan, about half an inch apart
Cover lightly with a plastic or towel and let it proof for second time
You can choose to dust your dinner rolls with flour or egg wash, sprinkle with sesame seeds, before baking , I also made a few slashes (optional)
Bake the bread in 425°F / 220°C degree oven for 18-22 minutes or until golden color
Remove from the pan right after baking and place on a cooling rack
Allow to cool down 10-15 minutes and enjoy!
