Since the preparation is pretty simple and you don’t need to have special skills or tools to bake zaatar bread. When you watch YouTube tutorial, you’ll understand what I mean.

Pretty basic bread dough, main ingredients : water, sugar, salt, yeast, oil and flour. What makes this Lebanese bread unique and flavors it, is that zaatar spice mixed with olive oil, spread on the bread dough before baking. That magic spread turns a simple flat bread into a very tasty and filling treat.

Ingredients

For bread 

1 ¼ cups lukewarm water

1 tsp instant dry yeast, if using active dry yeast, activate before adding

1 tsp sugar

1 tsp salt

1 ½ tbs olive oil




2 ½-3 cups all purpose flour, may need more for shaping

For zaatar spread 

⅓ cup zaatar spice mixed with olive oil, use as much oil as it needs to have a smooth spreadable consistency,

Directions

Combine all your ingredients for the dough in a bowl

Start by add the water, yeast, sugar, oil, 2 cups of the flour, salt and then the rest of the flour

Mix and knead to a smooth non sticky dough

Place the dough back into the same greased bowl to proof, cover with a towel or plastic wrap

May take 45-60 minutes




Meanwhile prepare the zaatar spread set aside

Preheat the oven to 450° F /200° C, place one of your heavy baking pans inside to heat,

You will be baking the breads on preheated pan for better result

Place the dough on your work surface, lightly knead to remove the air

Divide the dough into four even portions and form into balls

Dust your work surface with flour and using your fingers tap and spread the dough into a flat circle disc , about 6”-7” diameter

Spread some of the prepared zaatar spice

Place it on a piece of parchment paper or a foil

Carefully transfer onto preheated baking pan

Bake 10-12 minutes

Բաղադրատոմսը 


*Բաժակի չափը 250մլ*

Խմորը 

1 ¼  բ (300 մլ) գոլ ջուր

1 թ գ խմորիչ

1 թ գ շաքարավազ

1.5 թ գ աղ

1.5 ճ գ ձիթապտղի յուղ

3 բ ալյուր , կարող է ավել պետք լինի

Զաթառ թանձրուկը 

1.5 բ չորացրած, մանր փշրած վայրի սուսամբար (օրեգանո), կարելի է փոխարինել ուրցով կամ անանուխով

1 ճ գ չոր, փշրած ռեհան

1.5 ճ գ բոված քունջուտ

1.5 ճ գ սումախ

0.5 թ գ սև պղպեղ

0.5 թ գ քիմիոն

0.5 թ գ աղ

Ձիթապտղի յուղ, այնքան որ ստացվի ջրիկ թանձրուկ

Թխել 10-15 րոպե, 200° С նախապես տաքացված ջեռոցում
