Directions
In a mixing bowl combine flour ,yeast ,sugar and salt
Add water and melted butter
Using electric mixer with a hook attachment knead the dough for 5-7 minutes
The dough should be non sticky and elastic
Place the dough into a greased bowl
Cover with a plastic and let it rest until doubled in size, about 50-60 minutes
Transfer the dough onto your work surface,lightly sprayed with oil
Divide into 8 equal portions (you can use kitchen scale or try to eyeball )
Roll each into 24” long strips
Shape into pretzel like form and place onto a lined baking sheet
Cover again with towel and let it rest another 25-30 minutes
At this point start boiling the water ,add soda as it boils
Preheat oven to 450° F /233 C
Boil each pretzel for 1-2 minutes and place it back onto a lined baking sheet
Egg wash with a pastry brush ,sprinkle with salt
Bake 14 minutes
Remember to switch the pans halfway through baking
These soft pretzels can be brushed with melted butter if desired
