Wheat Flaxseed Homemade Bread Recipe
As a mom to quite picky children ,I try to come up with recipes that may include at least a few really healthy nutritional ingredients ,something they won’t eat on its own. Flax seeds would be one of those .Of course children love bread ,at least mine do, they can eat bread for breakfast, lunch and dinner:) so I figured out if I pour those tiny seeds into my breads, they may just eat it without noticing. It worked!
This Homemade Bread recipe is pretty simple ,yet so delicious .The bread has some nutty flavor and tastes really good when toasted, with butter or cream cheese.
Be sure to use good quality whole wheat flour, I prefer using King Arthur brand ,and it doesn’t have to be bread flour, regular all purpose should be fin.As for the flax seeds, I buy mine from Trader Joe’s :Golden roasted whole seeds.
This Homemade bread recipe is good for 2 medium sized loaves. And I like shaping my breads different shapes each time and mix and match the bread design , sprinkle the top with flour or just brush it with oil,egg wash or butter,it’s really up to you how you want to design your breads. The taste won’t change and bread will still taste the same:DELICIOUS!

Place the dough into greased bowl and cover with plastic wrap or damp towel
Let it rest in a warm place until doubled in size (50-60 minutes)
Turn it onto working surface ,punch the air out
Knead,stretch and fold the dough
Shape into a ball and turn it back to its bowl for second rise (45-60 minutes)
Divide the the dough into 2 equal portions
Shape as desired (round or oval)
Place on lined baking pan
Brush the tops lightly with egg wash, sprinkle with flax seeds
Let the loaves to rest and rise another 25-30 minutes lightly covered with a towel
At this point you can preheat the oven to 450° F/250° C degree
Bake 10 minutes ,then lower the temperature to 400° F/200° C and bake another 20-25 minutes
Allow the bread to cool down at least 30 minutes before slicing
Wow! That looks really good and healthy too! Can we replace molasses with any other ingredient?
Thank you, you can just omit it,there will be slight difference in taste but I’m sure the bread will still taste delicious 🙂
